Artist's Biography: |
Edison T. Crayne was born in San Diego, California and grew up in Los Angeles. He earned a Bachelor of Professional Arts Degree, with Honors, from Art Center College of Design, in Pasadena, California. He studied rendering under Disney legend, Dorothea Redmond while at Art Center and with national award wining artist and sculptor Ron Pekar. Edison is an Associate Member of the National Watercolor and of Watercolor West. His work has been displayed at Walt Disney Imagineering's Glendale campus, HNTB's Los Angeles office, Gensler's Santa Monica office and the Hilton Hotel at Torry Pinse, California. A number of his paintings appeared as background elements in the art studio set for the Ally McBeal television show. Working with transparent watercolor or oil on canvas, his style combines free floating, amorphous washes and sumi-E like lines in contrast to areas of rendered detail, successfully creating works which are both spontaneous and thoughtful. Edison's subject matter ranges from broad vistas of sweeping landscape to delicate elements, colors and shapes found within more intimate settings. Exhibitions have included the "An Affair on the Art" exibit and sale at WDI in Glendale, and the annual Santa Paula Art & Photography Exibit. Edison was one of fourteen artist who participated in a four-month long mixed media exhibit mounted at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines Hotel. |
